The Adobe Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Adobe Photoshop CS5 is a program that applies a number of fixes to the program.

This update allows for interactivity with apps on smartphones and tablets in the Edit menu under Remote Connections. These apps are available in the Adobe App store, They are Adobe Eazel, Adobe Color Lava and Adobe Nav.

This update also fixes performance crashes, particularly with the liquify function. Security vulnerabilities are closed off, Sharpen and Quick Selection have been modified to avoid crashes, and a File Info issue with The Orphea Studio has been fixed.

Before installing this update, please make sure to disable all of your virus protection programs. The folder on your hard drive that contains Photoshop must be named "Adobe Photoshop CS5." If the updater cannot find the application, you may have to uninstall and reinstall CS5.

This update is not compatible with beta versions of CS5.

CS5 offers a number of fantastic new features, particularly for those who use it for image manipulation or digital painting with a WACOM tablet.

Content-Aware Fill is a new feature that can more or less remove a person from an image and fill in the background with almost no assistance. There is a little cloning cleanup involved, but overall it is pretty amazing.

The Camera Raw 6 plugin is improved. It supports over 250 raw formats and offers refined control over sharpening and more intricate control of noise reduction. The Merge to HDR command allows the user to align images and combine them with almost no blurring effect.

The Puppet Warp tool is a handy grid which can be overlapped on an object and can then be stretched and skewed. This tool is especially useful for altering a photo slightly while maintaining a realistic look. It also is quite effective in warping text in interesting ways.

Masking has been refined in CS5. Quite a bit of time in Photoshop is spent making a mask. These improvements speed up the process. Refine Edge helps when the user has to select a tricky edge, like fur or spiked hair. Refine Radius and Erase Refinements will eliminate the tedium.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 makes leaps in convenience with a host of new refinements and time-saving features, particularly in the masking department. If you are a digital painter, this is the version to get as well. Download the patch to avoid crashes and to make the experience complete.
